The only substance taken orally that does not require digesting, several glasses should be drunk daily in between meals. Ideally drink up to a quarter of an hour before a meal and not until an hour after meals to aid optimum digestion. A good rule of thumb is for the person to note their weight in pounds divided by three which gives the number of ounces of water to consume daily. ie Man 180lbs = 60ozs or 3 pints. Woman 120 lbs = 40 ozs or 2 pints

Avoid roughage and raw foods, tea,coffee,alcohol,carbonated drinks, highly spiced foods,coarse cereals, crisps and nuts for a minimum of two weeks. This will give the digestive process a helping hand eat warm cooked foods such as soups, stews, baked fruits, porridge, etc. keep your water intake up.
